WHIPPET RACING.

N.Z. CUP MEETING. On Tuesday evening, the New Zealand Whippet Racing Club will hold what is perhaps the biggest event of the year, when the New Zealand Cup will bo contested over the standard distance, 200 yards. This event is a £SO race, and carries with it the, New Zealand Whippet Racing Cup. It can be safely stated that all of the eighteen acceptors are in first-class condition, and that a fine contest is to be expected. Two other races will be staged, a second class handicap and a hurdles handicap. Interest is added to the Cup meeting by the fact that a large contingent of the Christchurch dogs recently travelled up to Palmerstou North, where they competed iu a, number of events held in conjunction' with the Agricultural and Pastoral Association's Show. The local competitors, who tiro expected back in Christchurch this morning, were very successful at this meeting, Mr A. H. Forbos's Laughing Eyes winning the Manawatu. Hurdles, whilst Miss Lorna Fitzsinimons's Princess Rose carried off the Manawatu Cup.
