PHILATELIC SOCIETY.
The monthly meeting of the Christchurch Philatelic Society was held on Thursday evening. Four new members were elected. It was decided to give n scries of four lectures on the air from 3YA. The display of v the evening was given by Mr S. Mallouk, of the stampß of his native country, Syria. This proved most interesting, as Mr Mallouk has a collection of some thousands of- stamps, including practically every stamp issued by Syria. This album also contains many stamps of Turkey, Mesopotamia, and Palestine. "A vote of thanks to Mr Mallouk was proposed by Mr Peers, who had spent three years in Turkey.
