REDCLIFFS BURGESSES.
, MEETING OF ASSOCIATION. Tramway affairs were the chief topic of discussion at the meeting of the Redcliffs Burgesses' Association held in the Library on Thursday, Mr D. F. Oldridge, the president, being in the chair. The Citizens' Association wrote inviting members to bo presont at a meeting to hear the views of candidates for the Tramway Board. It was decided to accept tho invitation.
Tho Sumner Burgesses' Association forwarded correspondence from the Tramway Board, in which it was stated the Bonrd could not see its way to alter its time-table to provide for tho interval between tho 9.15 and 10.10 trams to SumnoV. The Tramway Board wrote in reference to the Association's letter drawing attention to tho danger at the Celia streot intersection, that the matter would be discussed on the return of the Hon. Mr Barr from Wellington.
In n general discussion on tramway affairs a hope was oxpressed that tho two candidates for tho district would take an opportunity of putting their views before tho residents.
The secretary of the Association, Mr J. A. Itudgo, wrote stating that owing to his impending transfer to tho North Island, jt was necessary for him to resign his position as secretary.
The resignation was accepted with regret, many references being made to tho good work done by Mr Rudge on behalf of Redcliffs. Mr H. Curson was appointed to fill the vacancy.
A committee was set up to go into the question of erecting a cairn on Monck's Spur as a district war memorial, the committeo to report at next meeting. Mr A. Ifnldcn gave notico to rescind a motion ,of opposition to the electricity loan.
