DEATH OF PRISONER.
INQUEST CONCLUDED. The' inquest' into the death of Edward ilaboney, a single man, aged 23, who had' been a prisoner in Paparua prison, and who died in the Christchurch Hospitalon October 26th, was concluded yesterday afternoon. Mr H. P. Lawry was the Coroner, and Sergeant M. Hodkins appeared for the police. Dr. A. E. Pearson, pathologist at the . Christchurch Hospital, gave evidence as to the general physical condition of deceased. There was an inflammation of the kidneys, but ordinary tests would not show the extent of it, he said. Witness thought that the man had every reasonable attention. The case had been very closely watched in the hos : pital. . . ■ Dr. K. 11. Church,- assistant medical officer at the Christchurch Hospital, said that when Mahoncy was admitted on October 21st, he complained of severe and persistent headaches. He looked very toxic and gradually became unconscious, dying at 4.20 p.m. on October "6th. Prior to death no definite conclusion had been come to as to the ultimate cause of death. There were symptoms of kidney trouble, and of cerebral trouble, and Mahoney received the usual treatment. Kelatives were notified when his condition became serious. . ". .
A verdict *.V3S returned that death was due to acute kidney trouble.
