| POPULARITY IN BERLIN. The recently issued report for 1926 of the Berlin General Omnibus Company shows that the fleet covered-. 13,562,500 miles, as against 8,730,000 in, 1925, an increase of 55 per cent. Li addition, 500,000 miles were covered by omnibuses and coaches engaged in excursion and pleasure party trips. The total number of passengers carried advanced from 77,163,351 in 1925 to 112,545,710 last year. Eeceipts amounted to £1,099,626, a falling oft per mile as compared with 1925; the directors pointing out that the satisfactory financial position has only been maintained l>v the efficiency of the operating and maintenance methods. The 1926 working expenses amounted to £573,5G3, the gross profit, plus other sources of income amounting to £230,939. Of this sum £ISS,SSS was devoted to depreciation of buildings, rolling stock, and other property, the net profit for the year amounting to £-15,351, out of which a dividend of 6 per cent, on the preference and 10 per cent, on the ordinary shares has been paid. On six of. the citv routes « 2-1-hour service 13 maintained. For city use, where not prevented by bridges, covered double-deckers are now being used, and all the omnibuses are fitted with interior heating.
