Shakespeare Memorial Theatre. London, November 2.—The Shakespeare Memorial Fund has reached of which £138,700 waa raised in America. It is announced that the new theatre is now assured, and a large sum will also be available for its endowment.
Soviet Amnesty. \ Moscow, November 2.—ln connexion with the tenth anniversary of the Involution, the Soviet Government is granting an amnesty writing off pen sants' loan indebtedness and arrears in the payments of the poorer section of the population.
N.S.W. Family Endowments. Sydney, November 3.—A Government Gazette states that while the contributions of employers to the Family Endowment Fund wore large, tin disbursements were small during Sep tember and Octobor. The tax yielded £354,69", but payments were only £19,193.
Court Circular by Duke of York. Londbn, November 3.—The Duke ol York yesterday issued his first Court circular from bis residence, 145 Piccadilly.
Murderers to Pay Penalty. Sydney, November 3.—A wireless message from Rabaul states that, despite the Judge's recommendation for mercy, four of the five Nakanai murderers have been ordered to be executed on Saturday next. One has been reprieved on account of his youth*
German Communists Held Up. Warsaw, November 2. —A German Communist delegation bound for th« anniversary celebrations at Moscow was held up on the Russian-Polish border. Soviet Customs officers confiscated a large banner bearing Communistic inscriptions because the delegates refused to pay Customs duties.
