MISSIONARY EXHIBITION.
INTERESTING DISPLAY AT ST. MATTHEW'S. . '. Bishop TVest-SVatson opened the Missionary Exhibition: promoted by the parish-'of St. Matthew's, St. ' Albans, and held; in the schoolroom, in the presence of a fairly large attendance, yesterday afternoon. His-Lord-ship ' expressed a hope that one effect of the exhibition would' be to bring them,back to the bigness of tho church of which, they wore members, and to. tho bigness of the oulcrprisc, in .respect of. foreign missions, entrusted to that church. , ■ The vicar','Bev. Canon S. Hamilton, said the exhibition was mooted by the Rev. H.l. Ault, and at first" it was thought that thc-y would take some time to organise jt, but as'Mr Ault was leaving for the mis3ion field sooner than was expected, arrangements had to'be hurried. He expressed thanks to all who had contributed ' articles for exhibition, or who had assisted. The exhibition is divided into a number of courts, in which are exhibited artiolos from the different mission fields. The ..courts and those assisting in. connexion wifh them are as followa: —' ' /. _ ."■■".• Melaneaiti and Literature: Miss Cameron and Mis Blyth. and Misses C. Crosson, A. Wight, and M. Clarke. . China: Mrs Funnell, and Misses B. Pilgrim; F. Dybort, and B. Stallard. Egypt and Palestine: Mrs Noonan, Misses Bailey, Heevo; Head, and Thomas (2). Maori and Rarotonga: Mesdames Joughin and Slater, Misses G. Pilgrim and L. Mollison, and Mr C. Bishop. Africa: Miss Kiddcy, Mrs Strachan, and Messrs A. Clibborn and D. SUnton. India: "Miss McClea, Mesdames Bennett, Sandrey, and Misses Hurley and Green. Oriental stall: Mrs Inwood, Mrs Anderson, Misses Bower (2) and Knight.-. Mrs K. 8.-Bennett and members.of the Mothers' Ifnion were in charge of the afternoon tea.
Talks on missionary work were given during the afternoon by the Bev. B. G. Fox, vicar of Oxford, who spoke in the Melaneßian court, and Miss Brunt (China). In tho evening Miss Bargrove (China) and Rev. J. Takle (India) gave talks. There was also a. pageant of children wf'other races: ■ The exhibition will be open this afternoon and evening and to-morrow afternoon and evening.
