ROYAL SHOW.
NEXT WEEK'S EVENT. MEETING OF A. AND P. COMMITTEE. Tho Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association's 1927 Royal | Show will commence on Wednesday j nest, and will be officially opened by j his Excellency the Governor-General the following day, November 10th ; at noon. The General Committee of the Association mot yesterday afternoon to discuss the final details, Mr E. Hay presiding. The chairman said that certain improvements had been carried out at the Show Grounds. Numerous complaints had beeu made regarding the cattle pavilion, and it had been decided to partition tho stalls. .So many entries had been received in the pigs sections that it had been found' necessary *to erect extra pens. The same applied to the sheep, and 56 extra pens had been installed. Improvements had been made in other directions also, including better cattlewashing facilities and repairs to the grandstand spouting. Last year many people received a shower-bath from the spouting, but in the event of rain this would bo avoided this year. His Excellency the Governor-General would officially open the show at noon on Thursday, November 10th. Previously tho opening had! taken place from tho grandstand, which resulted in speaking into an open space. This year the opening would take place on the bandstand . Large entries had been received, and success was looked forward to.
Mr John Beans stated that the Sheep Committee had reported favourably on the proposal to hold a ram and ewe fair in the last week in January for Down and Ryeland sheep. The report was adopted.
