FARM ECONOMICS.

- . * PLANS FOR RESEARCH. Following upon a communication from the Agricultural Research Committee of the Canterbury Progress league, the approval of the Minister for Agriculture (Mr Hawken) has been given to a proposal to conduct a survey of 100 typical farms in Canterbury for the purpose of forming a basis for economic farming work in the province.

Reporting to this effect on behalf of the committee to last night's meeting of the League, Mr G. H. Holford said that it was exceedingly gratifying to have the Minister's approval of the proposal and to note that the Department was prepared to assist. \_ Mr Holford also stated that, for the purpose of placing the pig industry on a better footing, a representative meeting of those interested would be held in the Chamber of Commerce on November 10th. Such experts as Messrs J. Fraser, K. Gorringe, and others would attend.
