AN INNOVATION. For the purpose- of encouraging cricket ami improving the standard of play of the employees, a practice net has been erected on the roof of the D.l.C.'s premises, Caahel street.

Mr O. C. Cox, manager'of the firm; officially opened the net yesterday. He stated, that it would be a decided asset to the club, arid he hoped that it would serve the very useful purpose of improving the standard of play of the members of the ctab., Tho net, of wire netting, extends along the south wall of the roof. The pitch is about 30 yards- long,: and provides ample room for bowling purposes. Matting is lai<] down for ihe pitch. There is no danger, of the ball dropping into the street, as the netting extends along the top. as well'as along the sides and ends.
