S. GEORGE'S HOSPITAL.

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. ' j ' A meeting of the committee of St. George's Hospital was held yesterday afternoon, Mr Geo. Gould presiding. There were also present: —Canon Wilford, Commander D. Boyle, Dr. Averill, Messrs J. Fleming, W. E. D. Bishop, T. Chapman, A. K. Hadfield, E. Eldridge, L. E. Haines, and R. J. G. Collins.

A letter referring to the heating system was referred to the architect to enable him to approach the experts in J>unedin. Mr Gould stated that he had received a contribution of £lO 10s from Dr. Levinge. He also stated that £|2oo was held on deposit at 4 per cent, at varying dates. It was stated that the total expenditure to date was £26,000. Canon Wilford stated that Mr It. E. MeDougall had offered to put; in the oil fuel plant and it was decided to write him a letter of thanks.

Mr Bishop supplied a report regarding the market, stating that gross proceeds were £3209, the expenditure £37, and the net return £3172. The chairman said that it was a matter for congratulation, and, on his suggestion, it was decided to thank the ladies who had assisted.

Owing to the increasing correspondence, the offer of Mr Collins to act as assistant secretary was accepted, Mr Collins receiving a vote of thanks. It was agreed that his office in the T. and G. Insurance buildings should be the secretarial office. It was announced that the bank statement showed a debit of £248 6s sd. Canon Wilford said that more collectors were wanted for Rose. Day, to bo held to-morrow, and a sub-commit-tee was set up to assist. Ho also advised that a ball would be held in the Caledonian Hall next Thursday evening. Tho matter of placing the lights in the best possible position was left to the works committee. It was agreed to meet fortnightly.
