SIGNS OF BUILDING REVIVAL. \ With several substantial structures now under way or planned, tlie prospects for tradesmen and labourers in the building trade arc much brighter than for many months past. A grab is being used in tho excavation of the cellar tor tho new buildings which have been commenced by Messrs P. Graham and Soil, at the corner of Cashel and Liverpool streets, for the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd. The concrete rnixer is already at work. A contract will probably be let to-day for the fine new offices in Hereford street for the National Insurance Company. Shops are being built in Ferry road for Mr J. H. Gibbs. Permits for 58 dwellings were issued by the City Council in October. . Four shops, with flats, are under construction in- Riccarton road, at the Clarence street intersection, Mr V. E. Dockery being the owner. Mr G. J. Watson is erecting a butcher's shop in the same locality for the City Cash Meat Company, and Mr L. G. Martin is building another shop on the opposite side of Riccarton road. Numerous houses are also under way in tho Riccarton borough, and Mr S. Harrington has in hand the construction of a new Methodist Sunday school in Clarence street.
