LYTTELTON NEWS.

Opening of Sailing Season. The opening of the Canterbury Yacht and Motor Boat Club's season, which was postponed from Labour Day, will take place at the club sheds, Wost Lyttelton, on Saturday aftornoon. There will be a race for Takapuria punts, and probably an open class race. Visitors will be entertained at afternoon tea by the ladies of tho club".

Harbour Light Theatre. "Camille," a Paramount special production from tho novel by Dumas, and starring Norma Talniadge, is the chief attraction at the Harbour Light Theatre to-night and tomorrow night. A comedy and a news-reel will aUo be shown. A double feature programme, consisting of "The Love Thrill,' a comedy-romance starring Laura La < Plante and Tom Moore, and "Tho Whirlwind of Youth" will bo screened.

Lyttelton Rowing Cltib. The Management Committee of the Lytteltou Rowing Club met on Tuesday evening, Mr H. Ryder presiding. Seven new members were elected. • The club captain (Mr J. Scott) reported that the now floating slip was now in position alongside the boathouse, and that the plant was in good order. Ho' recommended that a new set of oars and sculls be purchased at ft cost of about £25. The chairman said a concert would be held shortly to raise the necessary funds. He reported on visits to the Canterbury Rowing Association, and also on tho Harbour Board rogatta to be held on December 17th. Mr W. Toomey was appointed delegate to the Canterbury Rowing Association in place of Mr P. Thomas resigned. The Racing Committee reported that crews would be selected fon the regatta at the end of the present week, and would bo open to ohalleiige. A noticeable improvement had taken place in the crews, due to the work of the now coach.
