BOROUGH COUNCILS.
.-— * RANGIORA. Tho .'<>rtnighUy meeting of the Kangiora Borough Council was held last night. Present: The Mayor (Mr W; A. Rowso), Crs. C. I. Jennings, C. S. Ayors, R. H." Bailey, 0. W. Tyler, A. E. Evans, J. J. Mathews, and J. F. Sutherland. The secretary of the Northern A. and P. Association wrote asking the Council to invito tho shopkeepers to close their -places of business from 11 a.m. to-morrow. The Mayor said he had granted the request. Tho Hon. Mr Buddo, M.P., wrote stating that due notice would be given of the date of the visit of the Minister for Health to the borough. The secretary of the Municipal Conference wrote notifying the Council that the Municipal Conference would, be opened in Nelson on the second Wednesday in March. The Town Clerk reported that the tarring of Ashley 6treet was nearing completion. Tho filling in of tho Ayers street pit had been finished at a cost of £67 15s. The next street to be tarred was Victoria street. The building of the stables and woolshod at Lyndhurst reserve has been completed, the work ' being very satisfactory. Tho newly-appointed cfece assistant, Miss Shankland, had taken up her duties. As thero was a considerable amount of back work to bo made up ho asked permissiou to keep the temporary assistant, Miss Ayers, until the work was brought up to date. The report was received and tho request to keep the temporary assistant was granted. Notice was given by Cr. Jennings to move nt tho next meeting: "That tho Council meet onco a month during the summer months."
It was decided to prosecute .owners of stock found wandering in tho borough.
