MEAT SHIPMENTS.

The New Zealand "Meat Producers' Board submits the following figures showing the Ehipments of. frozen meat from New Zealand to the United Kingdom and the' Continent of Europe, etc., for the period commencing November let, 1926, to October 15th, 1927, with the figures for the corresponding period last year:—

Mixed—Fair to good 36s 6d to 38s 6d per cwt, dark to dull 34s to 36s 3d per cwt. Gut, etc. —32b to 36s 34 per cwt. ■HEMP. ' Manila market easier. "J" grade OctoberDecember shipments sold £42 and down to £4l 10s. "J" grade afloat sold £42 At the close sellers quote November-January and January-March shipments at £4l 10s. Sisal market dull, with spot and afloat preßsed for sale. Tanganyika No. 1 sold October-No-vember shipments at £36, and November-Janu-ary shipments at £36 ss. New Zealand market quieter. Belgian—lßs 6d to 20s per long 100. t South African and Argentine-—l4s 6d to 17s 6d per long 100. Australian —17s to 18s per long 100. Russian, Lithuanian, and Polish—lis to 16s per long 100. WOOL. Bradford market firm tone with good demand for spot tops, especially fine qualitiesAll qualities 50's and up in very limited suppl?. Present quotations are:—64's warp 4s 4d per lb, average 4s 3d per lb, 56's 31s Id per lb, 50's 2a 4d per lb, 40's prepared Is 9d per lb. .

BRUCE WOOLLEN COMPANY. A loss of £1569 on trading operations ior the year ended September 19th is showa by the Bruce Woollen Manufacturing Company, Ltd;, which contrasts with a net profit o£ £9056 last year. The report states that tho post year has been a particularly trying one for the directors, owing to its being largely a year of reorganisation coinciding with a period of general business depression. The gross profit for the year was £16,357, as compared with £26,801 in tho previous year. The expenditure totalled £17,924, against £17,745. As £1605 was brought forward from the previous year, tho loss of £1567 deducted from this leaves a balance of £3B to be carried forward. The capital of the company is unchanged at £IOO,OOO, but the directors, by the authority of the shareholders, are issuing the unallotted 50,000 shares of £1 each as cumulative preference shares, bearing interest at 7 per cent. Outstanding accounts at £6692 are £l2B larger than last year. Income-tax reserve, which stood, at £3840 a year ago, is now down to £1669; deposits at £12,839 show a reduction, of £7420. Bank overdraft has increased, and at £86,176 is £20,579 larger than tho amount shown in last year's balance-Bheet. The dividend equalisation account is unchanged at £SOOO, but the reserve account at £12.000 is up £IOOO, this amount having been added out of the profits of "last year. The plant valuation stands at £89,662, against £91,813, and premises account at £34,884, against £34,735. Tho book debts at £24,996 are only £3 more than they were a year ago. Stock totals £69,462, against £66,343, and advances on workers' homes £5221, against £5803.
