U.S. PRESIDENCY.
REPUBLICAN NOMINATION. (BT CABLX —PRESS ASSOCIATION —COPTBIGHT.) (AUSTRALIAN AND K.Z. CABLB ASSOCIATION.) . (Received November Ist, 7 p.m.) WASHINGTON, October 31. Senator Borah said to-day that if the Republican leaders persisted to talk of the renomination of Mr Calvin Coolidge for the Presidency, an attempt would be made during the coming cession of Senate to put through a resolution opposing third terms.. Before Mr Coolidge's statement was made, Senator La Folletto had planned to revive his anti-third term resolution, but after the President's statement the plan had lapsed and there had been no necessity since. Senator La Follette believed that the President was not planning to run again. Another important development in the pre-convention fight for Republican Presidlential nomination occurred to-day, when Senator Norbeck announced that ho was supporting the candidacy of ex-Governor Lowden, of as most acceptable to agricultural interests. He intimated that discord among tho_ ranks of the farmes progressives in the middle west and north-west would be fatal to their cause and would result only in their being ignored in the national Republican convention. Those Republicans anxious to draft Mr Cooliage had hoped that Mr Norbeck would join with them, and they have found much food for thought in his announcement.
