The Gisborne Harbour Board last night decided by six votes to five to reduce the salary of the engineer from £I2OO to £3OO per year. _ The engineer immediately rose and said: "I look on the motion as intended to be humiliating, and as such I resent it. I shall take the necessary action as soon as possible." By the same majority the Board also carried motions dispensing with the services of the assistant engineer and the costing clerk. Subsequently notice was given to rescind the resolution. —Press Association.
