CANTERBURY ASSOCIATION. | Th« executive of the Canterbury Football ! Association met last evening. Mr K. E. j English (president) was in the chair, other ! delegates present being: Messrs K. B Walker, ,C. E. Keys, F. L. Eastgate, A. Bassett, J. P. Flood, B. 0. Priddis, J.S. Jenkinson, H. Jackson, J. Stout, J. A. Bobb, Dr. J. D. Marks, and Mr K. B. Bunt (secretary). The Finance Committee was requested to bring down a report on the decisions of the Finance Committee of the New Zealand Association regarding the financing of future Chatham Cup competitions, which were communicated in a letter. The secretary remarked that the decisions .would kill the competition, if they were finally adopted. A copy of amendments to tho rules was received from the New Zealand Association. Is advised that the Thistle Club's appeal would be dealt with at tho next meeting of the Council. The New Zealand Olympic Association wrote explaining its objects and requesting support. It was decided to affiliate with the Canterbury branch. An explanatory letter received from Marist Brothers' Old Boys' Club regarding the playing of an unregistered sixth grade youth against Technical, in the final, of the competition was received, and the explanation accepted. Mr R. Harrison, Belmont School, Auckland, wrote stating that, as manager of the New Zealand schoolboys' team playing against the visiting Australian side, he found the Canterbury representatives, R. I'oole and J. Nelligan, outstanding in playing ability and conduct. Jt was decided to forward copies of the letter to the hcad"master 3 of the schools attended by the players. ■ The secretary of the Westland Association wrote seeking affiliation to the South Island Primary School' Association. WestJand was in favour of the 1928 competitions being held in Grcymouth and the Association would make the necessary arrangethe letter stated Affiliation was granted and the letter was referred to the Schools' Committee. The secretary reported that it was proposed to visit the various cchools in which pupils had won trophies, and present these t> the successful scholars. Mr Priddis 'reported the final arrangements for the Association's ball to-morrow evening.
