COMPETITIONS. The competitions held under the auspices of the Canterbury Band of Hope Union were continued in the St. Paul's School Hall on Saturday .evening. . The large audience showed their appreciation of the juvenile talent in s very marked manner. ■ The following are the results: — "Vocal Solo; Class A, girls; own selection — Kona Hill (Edgeware 1 ), 93 per cent., 1; Miretta Shier (Durham street), 93 per cent, and Gladys Rose (Edgeware), 92 per cent, (equal), 2; Molly Moore (St. Paul's), 89 por cent., 3. The following also competed: Kathleen Reed (Knox). Norma Thomson (Edgeware), Kathleen Hinksman (Rugby street), MilUcent Armour (Knox), Norma. Judkius (Philipson 1.0. R.), Valeri Cater (St. Paul's). V*>al Solo; Class B, girls-'-Doris Donnelly (St. Paul's), 05 per cent. 1; Joan Thomson (Edgeware), 90 per cent., 2; Doreen* Evans (St. George's Presbyterian), .89 per cent., and Grace Nixon (St. Paul's), 89 per cent, (equal), 3. The following also competed: Shirley Cook (St. Paul's), Kathleen James (Rugby street), Isobel Lucas (Kdgaware). Recitation ; Class A. Section 1; girls—Recalls: Muriel Clothier (Madras street), Norma Judkins (Philipson I.O:R.), Betty Wanty (Rugby stret), Ethel Armour (Knox). Spelling Bee; under 14 Hughes (Durham street S.), 1; Jessie Maxwell (Knox), 2; Charles Ware (Rugby Btreet), Humorous Recitation; Section X ; boys— Recalls: Dawson Douglas (St. Paul's). Donald McLean (Berwick street), Raymond Thomson (Edgeware), Billie Cook (St. Paul's). The competitions .''will > be continued this evening, when the following sections will be judged:—Recitation, Class A. Section 1. girls; pianoforte solo, Class D; vocal solo. Class A, boys; humorous recitation, Section 1, boys; vocal solo. Class C; boys' violin solo; illustrated Band of Hope address; vocal solo B, boys.
