SUMNER BURGESSES.
A meeting of tlia Sumner Burgesses' Association was held on Saturday evening, Mr P. H. Mathews presiding over a small attendance. A letter was received from the gen-e-al manager of the Christchurch Tramways Board, statin? that the Board had »PP™™* or a seat to be placed at the Wakefield avenue tram stop. The secretary reported that this seat had already, been placed in •visition. The letter also referred to the Association S proposal that the 9.45 p.m. car t'-om the City to Woolston should run to Sumner. This could only be done by alterins the 10.10 p.m. non-stop to. Sumner to 10 15 p.m., makins stops the whole way through. It was stated that the overloading «*«« 1 2 - 35 P- m - car on Saturda ? 3 ™ s being considered. , It was decided to let these matters stand until the next meeting. The Telegraph Engineer wrote statin? that the DepartS could not insUll a slot telephone at the Scarborough tram terminus, as it would not be a paying proposition. " Tt was decided to refer the letter to the m pnAer for the district, Mr J. McCombs, to make representations to the Minister. On behalf of the subcommittee appointed ,o interview the manager of the Tramway Bnird regarding several tramway matters, Mr A J Scott reported that no satisfactory ar;»'n!rementß had been made, and that no furihli representation should be made until trie effects °£ the Summer Time Bill had been observed.
