IN ARTISTIC WORTH. "WEEKLY PRESS" CHRISTMAS NUMBER PRAISED. The impression made throughout ths Dominion by the Christmas Number of the "Weekly Press" is evidenced not only by the orders received by the publishers but also by the comments of daily newspapers in the various centres. The Oamaru "Mail" publishes this paragraph:—■ In recalling to mind the various i Christmas Numbers issued by the large | newspaper companies year after year, one of them always stands out pro- ! minently, the "Weekly Press.' 1 Somehow, the Press Company strike an artistic not© that is often wanting in other similar productions. There ;s a tendency in a mere collection of pretty pictures to bore one, especially when the same scenes recur with unfailing regularity. And it is this tendency that the Press people successfully combat, as witness their Annual for the current year. They have, it is true, made "a collection of pretty pictures." but artistic setting, combined with methodical lay-out, obviate all sense of boredom, and a glance through their [ pages is as entertaining and informing ' a* a first-class Pathp Gazette in an up-to-date movie show. T'nder the title "Life in New Zealand." there is a pleasing succession of pages wherein the "life" of the Dominion is seen from various angles.
