Tides. It trill be high tide on the beach this morning at 0.5G o'clock and in t" e river at 7.29 o'clock, and to-morrow at GA2 a.m. and 5.5 a.m. respectivelyE.A.0.8. At the meeting of the local Lodge 4645 of the R.A.0.8., the election of officers resulted as follows: \V. P. Bro. Lux ton C.P.; CM., Bro. Herrou C.P.; C.T., Bro. Gallaehcr; C. Cham., Bro. Cook; acting C.W., Bro, Crysell; A.8.. Bro. Hopkins C.P.; C. Con., Bro. Spence; Clf'-g. Bro. Rouse. I Plunket Society. The annual dance of the local branch. of the Plunket Society was held in Joyland on Thursday. Music was provided by Jin-kson's Orchestra. Vocal numbers by Mrs L. Bull and elo.eutionary items by Mrs McLeod were much appreciated. In the novelty dances, Miss Astou and Miss Jowett were the winners. The Committee are to be congratulated upon the success attending their eiforts. Carnival. At a meeting of the Committee of the Pleasant Point Yacht Club it was decided to hold the Carnival, postponed from Labour Day, on November Jlth. Central Gala. It has been the custom during the past few years for the local body to take in hand the running of the Borough Annual Festival, but this year it is understood the organising and ultimate running of the gala is to be taken in hand by the business people and residents. Subscriptions are " obtained in aid of the preliminary expenses. A meeting is to be held next week when a committee of management will be appointed. Fancy Fair. The members of St. Faith's Church are holding a Fancy Fair in the Parish Hall, while iu the vicarage grounds there, are a number of side-shows. The proceeds are in aid of Church funds. The stall holders are: Plain sewing— Mesdames Webb and Ballantyne; fancygoods—Mesdames Bcrgh and Bargrove; flower plants—Mrs Kides and Miss Wafforn; cakes—Mesdames Bobins and Hunt; china—Mesdames Bishop and Cossgrove; second hand—Mesdames McGillivray and Burt; books—Mesdames Bromley and Hockley; produce—Members of the Church choir; sweets —Ranawai Club, members; Christmas treeGirls' Guild; tea rooms —Mesdames Barter, Evans, Kershaw, and Middleton; boys' stall —Young Men's Guild. The Fair, which was opened yesterday by the Mayor, Mr A. W. Owles, will conclude this evening. South Brighton Bridge. No date has as yet been fixed for the official opening of the new bridge across the Avon at the western end of Bridge street south New Brighton. Cricket.
