MOTORISTS AND SWAGGERS.
TO TBI COCTOB OF THB FSMB. Sir,—This letter is written in the hope that it may benefit the above. All the sign-boards but not the posts, have been removed from about Waiau road, including one very important one at the junction of the Sherwood and Main North roads. T have frequently met motorists heading for Kaikoura Blenheim, or Nelson, miles on the Sherwood road. When they are informed that the sign-boards from the finger post had* been removed some eighteen months ago, presumably to be repainted, and never replaced, these infuriated motorists use language that is an eye- j opener to the sheep-farmers residing on this road. I have also met swaggers miles on the wrong road. When they are told that the road they are on leads them to near the foot of Mt. Tinline, and there ends, they drop their swag by the road-side and sit on it. Later they are seen with the swag up striding back to where the sign-boards used to be, no doubt silently cursing the powers that removed them. Whether the responsibility is on the Canterbury Automobile Association or the Amuri County Council, the writer does not know.—Yours, etc., NAKED FINGER POST.
