October 20. i A message from Rio states that many !of those shipwrecked have reached i Bahia by lifeboats. Ten steamships were standing by when the liner's boilers exploded. Only 34 out of the 125S persons aboard the Principessa Mafalda were missing late to-day, according to a message received by the agents of the ship at Montevideo. The French steamer Formosa, the German steamer Athena, and the British steamers Empire Star and Eadioleine participated in the rescue. The foundering of the liner I was due to a collision with a floating hulk, according to a wireless message.

A Buenos Ayrcs message reports that all but 68 of the passengers and crew of the Mafalda have been accounted for, according to the latest, word from Bahia. SURVIVORS REACH PORT. A\D N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION.) (Received October 27th, 7.]5 p.m.) NEW YOKE, October 26. The United Press correspondent at Eio de Janeiro says the latest reports indicate that 344 persons are still unaccounted for on the Mafalda. The rescue steamers are bringing the 912 survivors to port. The total passengerß and crew on the sunken ship numbered 1256. A later dispatch says the rescue steamers Mosella and Massilia were not included in the estimates of the survivors. These vessels are reported to have picked up 251 persons, leaving 93 still missing.
