—+ U.S. PRESIDENCY. FIRST ASPIRANT ANNOUNCED. 'BT CABH--PMSS ASSOCIATIOK-OOPTRIGHTt (.AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION., (Received October 27th. 7.1.5 p.m.> WASHINGTON, October 26. The first aspirant for President, Coolltige's mantle was officially announced in connexion with the candidature for Republican nomination for the Presidency in 1925, when a letter from .Senator Curtis was published to-day permitting friends to use his name. Ha added, however: "I will not consent to becomeU candidate if onlv tor the purpose of being used as a so-called stalking horse tor anyone else."' General opinion among political observers is said to accord Senator Ct.riis little, if any, show for nomination, li is not overlooked that. he has a Partv standing as leader in the Senate and other attributes which give his cause strength. He has the advantage of an agreeable personality and picturesqueness. since he is partiv Indian and is a chief of the Kaw tribe.
His secretary to-day declared that, he was partisan for President Coolidge until recent!v.
