i»*. ca»l»—j»n» amociatio*—eornuMT.) O'TKX TIMES. "1 (Received October 26th, 7.55 p.m.) LONDON, October 25. There has been an interesting development in the extent of the Soviet's purchases of Chilean nitrates during recent monthw. High grade quality, exclusively used for the production of explosives, has been bought in Chile, finance being arranged through Berlin. It it/understood that so far 50,000 tons have been purchased, and more is sought. The Soviet's purchases in 1926 were only 2000 tons, while the prewar maximum was 15,000 tons a year. Even in wartime the purchases did not exceed 100,000 tens annually.
