Sixty thousand of the Nanking forces are advancing on Hankow by land and water for the purpose of subjugating the city, which is reported, to have reverted to the North. River boats, both Chinese and foreign-owned, have been commandeered and British naval forces have been compelled to intervene and fire when foreign "steamers were hred on from the embankments.
