GOLF.
CHRISTCHURCH CLUB. Throufh incessant cold rain, snow, and wind a fairly big field contested the morning bogey of the Labour Day handicaps, and considering the elements and the fact that the competitors were playing against the par, 'TO, of the course, the cards returned were excellent. J. L. Applegarth, a young player of the Avcndale Club, was the winner, with a card of 4 down. In the afternoon a- four-ball bogey handicap was played, which resulted in a tie between five couples with cards of 3 down. The pairs that tied were: C. B. Sharpe and ,T P. Bruges. J. Dolph Bnd F. P. Morrison, F. Banks and W. D. Wood. T. S. Hills and G. Parkinson, and E. T. Shores and W. H. Cowper. The best cards returned in the bogey handicap were: —
