CRICKET.
SUTCLIFFE MAY CAPTAIN YORKSHIRE. (BT CABLE—PBESS ASSOCIATION— copirigbt.) (i CSTRALTASf AND N.2S. CABLH ASSOCUTIOX.) (Received October 24th. 8.5 p.m.) I/OXDON". October 24. The "Daily Chronicle" says that H. Sutcliffc has been asked to captain Yorkshire in succession to A. \V. Lupton. The Yorkshire Committee, has decided that it cannot longer afford an amateur in the team purely as captain. Jaques is the only amateur of sufficient cricketing ability, but he lacks t.ho experience of captaincy, so Sutcliffe lias been asked and will probably plnv a?- an amateur. His business as athletic outfitter, which ha; been exceedingly successful, makes this possible. Sutelifie thus follows the precedent of Jack Sharpc, of Lancashire.
