SHIPWRECKED CREW ATTACKED (ar CABLE—PHBSS ASSOCIATION—OOPYBIGHT). (AUSTRALIAN AND N.B. AHD SUN CA3M.) (Received October 23rd, 11.5 p.m.) LONDON, October 22. Arriving at Southampton aboard the Moreton Bay, the American crew'of the steamer Nile, who were shipwrecked on the coast of Tunis on the night of Oft' tober lGth, relate how they repelled hostile Eiff tribesmen with apples and oranges. They Btate that their ship pounded heavily on the rocky coast. She sent out an 8.0.8. call and the Moreton Bay rushed to her assistance. Meanwhile the crew, who landed, noted Biffs hanging about. The captain ordered the crew to go aboard the ship again. The Biffs rushed them, but the castaways repelled them with fruit missiles. The Moreton Bay took off the majority of the crew, but the captain and others remained. A British warship is standing by.
