NEW BRIGHTON MINIATURE RIFLE CLUB.
—■ . » .. . ■ . The twenty-first annual smoke concert and prize presentation of the New Brighton Miniature Rifle Club was held in the club's orderly rooms on Saturday, tho president, Mr A. W. Owles, presiding, over a good fcttendanoc. In welcoming'the members and visitors present, tho chairman stated that during the. past season the shooting as a whole • was not bad, yet it had not been up to standard, and he felt! that the club's register would show better results at the conclusion of next season. At the conclusion of the president's address he presented prizes to tho following:—Champion cup and gold . medal, J.Buschl; runners-Up, B. B. Diehl and A. J. Beaven; grand aggregate, O. Priest 1, A. J. Beaven 2; possible cup for greatest number of possibles' made during the competitions, E, B. Diehl; first competition, E. B. Diehl 1, G. Catton 2; second competition, H. Hawkes 1, D. Clarke 2; third competition, L. Samuels 1, A. J. Beaven S; fourth competition, T. Hobbs X, A. E. Young 2; fifth competition, R. Turner 1, J. Buschl 2; consolation, V. Batcliffe 1, D. Turner 2. On bohalf of the members the chairman asked Messrs V. Tims and G. Catton, coach and Bocretary-treasurer respectively, to accept tho gift of a silver match-box and pipe in slight recognition of their good services. During the evening the following toasts wore honoured: "The King." proposed by tho president; "Kindred Clubs," 'Trizo Winnors," "Givers of Priacs," "Tbo Ladies," and "The Press." while entertaining items were contributed by Messrs A. J, Beaven, W. Horrick, A. P. Hopkins, H. D. Brooks, T .Hobbs, J. Buschl, G. W. Bishop, and others.
