After threo events were decided Hi' V. fiissou presented the club prizes as follows: Olub championship (Mr Geo. Borgfeldt's gold modal), r. Truscott; triangle shoot for club's three guinea trophy, W. Reid; Hammond and Turner's trophy (second prize), J. Tullatt; best aggregate (club's two guinea trophy), J. Tullett; Hammond and Turner's trophy for; second, W. Reid; trophy given by Mr 0. Burgess for most breaks in main sweep, M. Higham; Mr S. Neate's trophy for; beat score ot the day, J. Qreer; Ashby, Bergh's trophy for beßt.scoro in U grade, G. Higham:

/ NORTH CANTERBURY CLUB. The Horth Canterbury Gun Olub'n clay bird championship was shot off on Saturday afternoon A boisterous nor'-wester prevailed, making the .shooting very difficult. Nevertheless some goQd scores were made. Owing to counter attractions and the'fear that the Wnimakaviri would rise and cut off road 'communication, tho attendance was smaller than usual, there being only ten- competitors. The match was one of 18 birds, and the shooting o$ the 10 yards mark. The first priie waa a medal, value -85 ss, given by the club, the second a trophy value £2 2s, j presented by Mr J. J. Mathews, and the ] third a trpnny Value £1 Is given by Mr W. S. Shilton. The president, Mr J. Skilling. gave a trophy value £1 Is for the beet first- >. barrel performance, and there, was also an optional lOa swe«p. to which nine of the. competitors subscribed. The results were as fpUows :•—!>,, Davison, h. Kerr, and a Jamieson fthot the possible and divided the sweep money. In shooting off the tie* to decide the championship, the three competitors shot from the 16yds mark to the eighteenth round, and still tied. They then went back two yards after every three shots, and at the twentyfifth round from the 2:2 yds mark, Davison dropped out. Kerr missed his twenty-eighth I bird when shooting off the 24yds mark, and I left Jamleson the, winner. The trophy, for the | first barrel performance was won by Pa?!- ; son, who only once used his. soeoad barrel. Othei* good scores were.: H. Qrennel and J5. i Nelmes 17 each, A. B. Kerr- and E.. Hammond 16 each, J. Skliing and G. Bruera 15 each. A cup, valued ali £6 Ss, given by Mr John Miles, of Eornslde, lor the bent aggregate In the throe club championships, of which the clay bird wal the final, was won by A. B. Kerr with 43 points out of a possible 45, D. Davison and H. GTeanel being funners-np with 46 each. Three other events were decided, two being ten bird sweeps and the. other a ten bird ••American sweep iu which all shot off the 15yds mark. In the first match thero were thirteen entries—D. Davison (18yds), H. Qrennel (19yds), 0. Jamieson (18yd»), and A. Prestney <l2yds) »hot all their bird* a*d divided the sweep. A club' special prize for the best score inside the I,3yd; mart: was won by E. Nelmes with 9 breaks. Eleven competed in the second event, A. B. Davison under the. try i ing weather conditions is worthy of special i mention, his performances for the. afternoon i being 72 break; out of a possible 76, and he used his second barrel only three times.
