♦ SCOW NOT PROPERLY EQUIPPED (PKESS ASSOCIATION TELBGBAM.) AUCKLAND, October 21. Mr A. W. Bryant, owner of the scop; Kaiti, was fined £25 in the Police Court for allowing his vessel to proceed on a voyage without proper lights and other equipment. Captain Townsend, master of the vessel, stated in evidence that on discovering that the vessel was not properly equipped, he wanted to drop anchor inside the heads, but the crew would not let him. Asked if it was mutiny he replied: "Yes, it was mutiny. I could not stand up against two big men." Defendant said he had no knowledge that his foreman had removed equipment to prevent it being stolen. Security for appeal was fixed at £lO 10s.
