THE WOOLSTON TRAGEDY.
THIRD BODY RECOVERED. FUNERAL OF VICTIMS. The body of Alexander Edens, aged seven, tihe youngest of the three boys who lost their lives when the punt in which they were paddling capsized in the Heathcote ltiver at Woolston on Monday, was recovered yesterday at the place where the tragedy occurred. Constable Rowe, of Phillipstown, made a final search yesterday morning with a draghook and brought the body to the surface. ' The news was received just as the funerals of the other two victims were being held. An inquest was held by Mr H. A. Young, Coroner, yesterday afternoon, and a. formal verdict of death thrdugh drowning was returned. Hundreds of Woolston residents and 'children- from the Woolston School attended the funerals of Jack Downing and George Edward Edens yesterday. There were 400 wreaths sent by children and friends of the boy's parents. A service was conducted at St. John's Church, Woolston, by the Rev. A. H. McC. Acheson, after which the cortege proceeded to the Princes street Cemetery. The grave of George Edens was left open, and last evening tihe body of his younger brother was also interred there.
