Captain Peter Eckersley, Chief EnI gineer to the British Broadcasting Corporation, who is returning to England after attending the Radio Conference at Washington, stated that England may scrap her present radio stations in favour of twin wave-length transmitters. Captain Eckersley said there was a scheme at present developing in Great Britain whereby listeners-in on the simplest s«t might be assured of a choice of programmes. If there was an evening of jazz for those who liked to dance to loud speakers, there would simultaneously be a programnfe of symphony music for the more seriousminded. Captain Eckersley declared that the plan had already begun with the establishment of a twin-wavo station at Daventry, SYDNEY BROADCAST SUCCESS. (AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION.) SYDNEY, October 19. Confirmation of the success of Sydney's broadcast continues to he received from amateurs, all of whom fail to understand tho sudden cessation. Mr C. C. Allen, of Kent, picked up the entire transmission, which was faultless, not a word being marred. [Station 2FC, Sydney, broadcast a test programme through short wave station 2ME on Monday.] VALUE OF THE AMATEUR. (AUBTJIALIAN AND N.Z. CABLX ASSOCIATION.) (Received October 20th, 7.35 p.m.) ■ WASHINGTON, October 19. The Australian and New Zealand delegates have joined the United States and Canada in urging the Technical Sub-Committee to accord the same official recognition to amateurs as to any other station, also that they be allowed the use of short-wave-lengths and that an allocation of amateur wave-lengths be agreed xipon. They further request that each nation should determine amateur power according to its national conditions and desires. Several speakers urged that the value of amateur be recognised.
