Mr A. J. Campbell (Dunedin) is staying at Warner's Hotel. Mr S, Hurst Seager arrived ia Christchurch from the North Island yesterday morning. *\ Professor, and Mrs Grant left Ohrist- ■ church' last night for Auckland. \ They will remain some time in New Zealand before returning Home. , > Mr Justice Stringer, chairman of the War Pensions Appeal Board, will leave Wellington at the end of the week, for Dunedia. Among the guests at the Clarendon Hotel are Messrs Jt. A. Firttoyson (Auckland), G. W. North (Wangahui), and G. M. Craig (Dunedin). Dr. S. M. Lambert, medical representative for tho Bockefoiler Foundation in the South Pacific Islands, and an authority on tropical diseases, has arrived in Wellington from Sydney. Mr Justice Frazer passed through Christchurch yesterday'morning on his way to Dunedin from Wellington. : He will preside at the Arbitration Court, which commences its sittings to-day. Mr A. R. Galbraith (City Engineer) and Mr V. Hean (architeeturui draughtsman for the City Council) are visiting Dunedin in connexion with the proposed improvements to the Christchurch Municipal Abattoir. > A vote of sympathy with-tho relatives of tho lato Mr D. Youpg, prominent in athletic circles for many yews, was passed at last night's meeting of the Cantcrbm-y Amateur Athletic Association. , Messrs A. W. Osborne (Sydney), A. Cornish (Wellington), A./ C, Paterwm (Dunedin), G. P. Wolfrom (San Francisco), R. L. M. Kitto, H. Clarke /Hanmer), F. Franklin (London), and A. M. Harna.ll (Wellington) are staying at the United Service Hotel. Mr H. E. Holland, M.P., Leader of the Opposition, will arrivo from the north to-morrow morning, and will leave later for InvercargiH, where he wilt attend the laying of the foundation stone of the new Trades Hall on Monday. f On the motion of Canon Button, the Anglican Synod resolved: "That this Synod recognises the valuable work done for the Church of the province by Dean Carrington, of Christchurch, and wishes him every blessing in the future." Canon Button said the Dean was not only a devout Churchman, but a statesman to whom the Church had to be thankful for measures which he had His efforts also as leader were felt.—Press Service.
