TARIFF AMENDMENTS.

FARMERS DISSATISFIED. (press association telegeam.) WELLINGTON, October 20. Strong condemnation of the recent amendment of the Tariff Act was - expressed at the meeting of the Dominion Executive of the New Zealand Farmers' Union to-night. Captain F. Colbcck (Morrinsville) declared that under tho new tariff there were over thirty articles used by primary producers upon which the duty had been raised. He moved: "That this executive views with the greatest dissatisfaction the recent amendment ' of the Tariff Aet which has the effect of imposing more taxation on the primary producers who feel they have been betrayed, insomuch that the Government implicitly led the farming community to believe that there would be relief." Mr E. D. Duxfield (Horotiu) seconded tho motion, remarking that farmers throughout the Dominion were keenly disappointed with the new tariff. The motion was carried unanimously.
