HOUSING LOAN.

<& AUTHORITY FOR £25,000. Some time ago the City Council made application to the Local Government Loans Board for authority to raise £7500 by way of loan for housing purposes, and advice has now been received that the raising of a second instalment of £25,000, bringing the totalup to £50,000, has been sanctioned. The letter states that tho application was considered at a meeting of the Board on October 14th. It concludes: "In view of the. number of empty houses in your district, this is the maximum amount which the Board is prepared to sanction at the present time." > The Council ,has already taken the' necessary steps in connexion with the first instalment.
