WELFARE SOCIETY.
AULSEBROOK AND CO. Four years ago Messrs Aulsebrook and Co. inaugurated a Welfare Society for the benefit of the employees. This society has proved to be a great success, and to-day is in a flourishing condition. The employees were not slow in realising that the society would be very helpful to them, and have joined up in strong force. At the annual meeting the president, Mr AY". J. Champion, congratulated the members on the very sound position the society was in, and expressed his gratitude to the Management Committee for the time and trouble taken by them in the conduct of the society. The balance-sheet showed that 136 sick cases bad been dealt with during the year, and the sum of i' 526 had been paid out in sick pay, at the same time leaving a very handsome' credit in the bank. A subsidy of 15s in the £ on contributions given by the firm relieves the management of much "anxiety in case of a prevalance of sickness. Apart from this, the firm have provided tennis courts and bowling green, which are surrounded by beautiful and well-kept grounds. A keen interest is taken in both theso clubs. For the studious thero are well-equipped libraries. So smoothly do the affairs of these clubs run that no encroachment is made in the firm's time.
