HIDES. (Received October 20tb, 10.50 p.m.) MELBOURNE, October 20. The hides market was very strong, and values advanced a farthing on lights and mediums and in many cases a halfpenny.
TEA SALES. i, Received October 20th, 8.45 p.m.) CALCUTTA, October 19. The tea sales were marked by a strong tone for all descriptions. Well-made Orange Pekoes advanced three pies, inferior descriptions were about steady, and medium brokens were firm. Prices for useful liquoring fannings were tending in sellers favour. Clean, common tea was in strong demand, and the commonest sold fully to recent quotations. Average prices were: Common Pekoe Souchong 12 annas 6 pies to 13 annas 3 pies: fommou broken Pekoe Souchong 13 annas 3 pies to 13 annas 9 pies; even black leaf Pekoe 14 annas to 14 annas 6 pies.
