SMASH AT CROSSING. . (PEESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) HASTINGS, October 20. Shortly after 9 o'clock this morning a car with, three occupants. John Eichardson, M. Severinsen, and W. J. Christensen, all of Makaretu, Btalled a-d stopped on the level crossing in the heart of the t-wn, and a train from Waipukufau carried it a chain. All except Severinsen escaped with minor injuries, but he was badly Vnncked about, and was removed to the hospital. The car was a wreck, pieces being strewn along the railway track.
