WHOLE TIME TO ART.
MR A. F. NICOLL RESIGNS. Mr A. P. Nicoll, Director of the Canterbury College School of Art, has resigned his position, and intends to de-vote-'himself exclusively to painting. Mr Nicoll is one of '. New Zealand's foremost artists; both as. a landscape and a portrait painter. There are fine examples ,of his work in the principal public galleries in New Zealand, and two of his landscapes are hung in an exhibition of the Society of Artists ;!ow being held in Sydney. Mr Nicoll has been Director of the School of Art for nine years, and has developed it till it is the leading school' of its kind in the Dominion. He was born in Christcnurch and educated at the Christchurch Boys' High School. His training in art he received in Scotland, and he has also studied on the Continent., Two fine examples of his work on the Continent are contained in the permanent collection of the Canterbury Society of Arts.
