BUS SERVICES.
AUCKLAND APPEALS. [THE PSESS Special Service.] AUCKLAND, January 21. The Appeal Board for No. 1 Motor Omnibus District gave judgment this afternoon in two appeals which have come before it. The decisions were to the effect that the new bus services, which it had' been desired to abolish, were allowed to continue subject to minimum fares, which will limit their competition with older services on the same routes. In the appeal of the Blue Star Motor Service, Ltd., Birkenhead, a co-opera-tive concern carried on by a! number of residents of -Birkdale, against , the decision of the Licensing -Authority, the Auckland City Council, to refuse it a license, the Board ordered that a license be granted to the company to run the- two omnibuses mentioned in its appeal notice, subject to a number of conditions.
The appeal of the Passenger Transport Company, which runs buses between Auckland and Papatoetoe, againit the granting of a license to W. J. Wheeler for a service between- Auckland and Pukekohe, was dismissed, but the Board imposed a new condition, namely, that the respondent must charge a minimum fare equal to'that'(ls 6d) fixed by the Licensing Authority for the journey between. Auckland and Papatoetoe by the Passenger Transport Company's buses, the appellant to be allowed to issue concession tickets subject to this restriction.
