"NOT RECEIVED."
LETTER TO AUCKLANDCOUNCIL. [THE PEBSS Special Service.] AUCKLAND, January 31. At the meeting of the' City Council last night more was heard of the letter from the Auckland Municipal Tramways and Omnibus Employees' Onion, which the Council refused to receive on December 9th. The secretary of the Union wrote stating that the Union could not see its way to alter the communication as the citizen and ratepayer members considered themselves entitled to protest and receive from the Council an explanation for the granting of a holiday on People's Day of the Royal Agricultural Show to one branch of the tramway service, while the same privilege was refused to employees in the permanent way and workshops department. The Council resolved to adhere to its previous decision and not receive the letter.
