Mr Lloyd George's efforts to secure a reunion of the two sections of the Liberal Party aro not proceeding smoothly. In consequence of comments, Mr Llovd George attended a meeting of the National Liberal Federation arid promised to hand over such a capital sum as would enable a full Liberal fighting line to he put forward at next election and also cover the whole expenses ot administration' of the Liberal heartqUTheeiSCommittec of tho Federation then passed the motion, by 16 votes to 12 asking Mr Vivian Phillipps, who is' Lord Asquith's nominee, to resign the chairmanship of the Organisation Committee. The "Morning Post," commencing on the meeting, says Mr Lloyd George no longer claims his offer unconditional, as he says ho trusts to tho honour of the Federation to appoint a neutral committee, nor is the grant made m perpetuity, but only until three months after the next General Election. It is understood that Mr Lloyd George offered £300,000 for a general election fund, enabling all the- seats to be contested, plus £40,000 annually for campaigning purposes.
