Glasson. and slolo £lB Ts. Tho Magistrate: Ho is asking for hail. Detective-Sergeant J. B. Young said that tho chargo waß serious, and asked that H bail was allowed it would be substantial. Bail was allowed, self in £l5O, and one surety of £l5O. Accused: Could 1 have my name suppressed) Tho Magistrate: No, unless you can give .any reason. _ Accused: One of tho family is a Government official. "You should have thought of that beforehand. Tho name will not be suppressed." William Weir, aged 39 years, was charged wjth unlawfully assaulting Alice Dunn and with using obscene language in Colombo street. A remand until January 25th was granted. Bail was allowod, self in £ls. A YOUTH'S THEFT. A 16-year-old lad, whose name was suppressed, pleaded guilty to the theft of £l2 15s from his employers. He was convicted and admitted to probation for 18 months, and was ordered to refund the sum of £7 16s at tho rato of 2s per week. CIVIL CASES. (Beforo Mr H. A. Young, S.M.) A SHED BURNED. John Bosondalo (Mr J. D. Godfrey) claimed from Stephen Fenwick (MrH. S. J. ' Goodman) the sum of £l3O. Tho defendant, it was stated, sold his farm at Prebbleton to Kosendale, with the provision that Fenwick should be allowed to live on a portion of the property for twelve months, rent free. It was claimed that on November 16th last defendant negligently lit a Are in the shed belonging to Rosendale, whereby it was- destroyed. Judgment was given lor plaintiff for £3O. CLAIM FOR RENT. Ernest J. Luxmore claimed from Henry Macdonald the sum of £5 for rent of a dwelling situated at 108 Jubilee avenue, New Brighton.
