DAMS IN THE RIVER.
TO THE EDITOB O? THE PRESS. Sir,—One can but hope that the chairman of the Drainago Board will refuse his permission to erect a dam in the river between the hospital ana Hereford street. Those of us who hare known the river for seventy years know the damage done to cellars when there was a mill dam at Hereford street, and the relief that followed its demolition. Why not let our Royal visitors see us and our City ae we live and not as it might be if subjected to engineering ingenuity.—Yours, etc. , R. HILL FISHER. Christchurch, Jan. 20th, 1927.
