A warm crntroversy continues over the Emden incident. Many letters of protest have been published, but the general opinion is that the Emden's action was fully justified. It is now stated that the police did not request the use of the hose, but they admit that tho crowd was im, manageable. The commander, in an interview, expresses great regret, but states that the use of the hose was the only way of preventing a terrible tragedy. He acknowledges that the extremely cordial reception given his officers and crew in Cape Town has been without a single unpleasantness.
