BURGLARY AT BOOK SHOP.
FIVE FIRES STARTED. •-. [THE PRBSB SpecUl Sorylce.] WELLINGTON, January 19, Last liight, burglars entered the shpp of Mr Norman E, Aitken, bookseller, Oourtenay place, took away with them money and goods to the value of abqut £B, and started fires in five different pl'ocoa on the premises. Entrance was gained by taking out a window which, faces the backyard of an adjoining fruitshop. ' gmal} sums Of silver kept in various drawers for early morning change were taken, also quantities of tobaccp and perfumery were not neglected. Thirty shillings worth of penny stamps were taken from one drawer, and then burn-' ed on a bookledge at the opposite aide of the shop. Another fire was started near to dozens of boxes of matches, A third fire had burnt a big hole in nne counter, and it was more by good luck than anything else that the whole shop was not destroyed.
