ACCLIMATISATION.

NORTH CANTERBURY SOCIETY

The North Canterbury Acclimatisation Society met last evening, MiEdgar F. Stead presiding. The secretary of the Marine Department wrote stating that a regulation had been made that the- length of quinnat salmon nets should be not more than 240i't. A report from the Medical Officer of Health, Dr. T. F. Telford, stated that ho had visited a creek running throue.li Mr Pengelly's property at Belfast with regard to a complaint that cockabullies and inanga were Wing killed by waste materials from Belfast factories. It was found that the stream was quite free from pollution at the time of the visit. It was ascertained also that the instance was an isolated one. The senior inspector would visit the locality and find out which trade wastes, if airy, went into the creek.
